Children deserve adults who are prepared.

Working With Children Is a Profession

Every day, children participate in schools, sports programs, enrichment classes, camps, childcare centers, tutoring programs, recreation facilities, faith-based programs, dance studios, martial arts schools, museums, and community organizations.

The adults serving them may be caring, talented, and well-intentioned. Yet many receive little formal preparation in:

  • Child development

  • Respectful communication

  • Safe environments

  • Professional boundaries

  • Family partnerships

  • Inclusive practices

  • Professional accountability

YouthSafe was created to help close that gap.

Good intentions matter.

Preparation matters too.

Why YouthSafe Exists

YouthSafeP.png

Children are not simply smaller adults.

They think, communicate, learn, regulate emotions, and respond to the world in ways that change throughout childhood. Their behavior may also be influenced by sleep, hunger, stress, family circumstances, personality, health, environment, learning differences, or experiences adults cannot immediately see.

YouthSafe teaches professionals to look beyond behavior and seek to understand the whole child.

It also helps organizations build systems that support safe environments, respectful relationships, professional conduct, family trust, and continuous improvement.

YouthSafe is not built around perfection.

It is built around preparation.

Every child deserves adults who are prepared.

The YouthSafe Standard
